Reporting an issue#
If you think something on SafeTrading is wrong, out of date or unclear, email media@safetrading.com with “Correction” in the subject. It helps if you include:
- the address of the page;
- the statement you think is incorrect, quoted exactly;
- what you believe is correct, with a link to a source such as a regulator register or the provider’s own documents;
- the country or account type it applies to, if relevant.
Please do not send personal account details, passwords or identity documents. For other inquiries, see the contact page.
How a report is assessed#
We check the disputed statement against the primary source it relies on, or the best available source if that has changed. Reports from businesses about their own coverage are assessed the same way. We verify the information against public documents rather than accepting it as given.
If a claim cannot be verified either way, we may add a note about the uncertainty or remove the statement.
How corrections are recorded#
Material corrections change a fact, a figure or a conclusion that a reader might rely on. They are noted on the page with the date and a short description of what changed.
Minor fixes such as spelling, broken links or formatting are made without a note.
Why dates only change with the content#
An “updated” date tells you when the information was last changed or re-checked. If we changed it for cosmetic edits, it would suggest a review that did not happen. Dates on SafeTrading change only when the substance of a page changes, as set out in the editorial policy.
