Cryptohopper Review 2026
Cryptohopper is a cloud crypto bot from a Dutch company, founded in 2017, that trades on your own exchange account by API key. It adds a marketplace of strategies and signals, and AI strategies on its top plan. There is no free plan, and the screenshots on its homepage show returns it does not explain.

What Cryptohopper is
Cryptohopper runs your bot in the cloud and trades on your exchange account through an API key. Its terms say no crypto can be deposited or withdrawn through a Cryptohopper account, so your coins stay at the exchange. The company says the bot handles more than nine million transactions a month; that is its own figure.
It was founded in 2017 by two Dutch brothers, Ruud and Pim Feltkamp. The operating company is Cryptohopper B.V., registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 70270481 at Hamerstraat 3D in Edam. Its terms are governed by Dutch law, with disputes going to the court of Amsterdam.
Pricing
Every plan includes trading signals, paper trading, backtesting and the strategy designer. Prices exclude VAT where it applies. A 3-day Explorer trial starts on sign-up, and the terms give a 14-day right to withdraw from a subscription; the pricing page describes this as a refund within two weeks of purchase.
| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | Coins | Open positions | Extras |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Explorer | $29/mo | $24.16/mo | 15 | 80 | Signals, paper trading, backtesting |
| Adventurer | $69/mo | $57.50/mo | 50 | 200 | Extra DCA features |
| Hero | $129/mo | $107.50/mo | 75 | 500 | AI strategies, arbitrage, market making |
Bot types and features
The main bot follows a strategy you build from indicators or buy from the marketplace. Strategy checks run every 10, 5 or 2 minutes depending on the plan. Hero adds AI strategies and an AI designer; the bot still trades only the coins and limits you set.
- Strategy designer and backtesting
- DCA to add to losing positions, which raises risk in a falling market
- Trailing stop and trailing buy
- Short selling
- Exchange and market arbitrage, and market making on Hero
- Marketplace for third-party signals, templates and strategies
- Copy trading of other users' setups
Security incidents
Cryptohopper published a data breach notice in June 2022. It said attackers used SQL injection against its website API on the night of the 9th to the 10th and obtained names, usernames, emails, encrypted passwords and account dates. It said API keys were not obtained. It cleared all sessions and tokens, told users to change passwords and API keys, and informed the Dutch data protection authority.
We found no documented case of Cryptohopper keys being used for unauthorized trades. Its terms do not describe how API keys are stored, and the homepage makes only general security claims.
- Disable withdrawals on the API key you connect
- Whitelist Cryptohopper's IP addresses where your exchange allows
- Turn on two-factor authentication on both accounts
- Watch for phishing emails pretending to be Cryptohopper
Marketing claims to ignore
The homepage shows an app screenshot with figures such as +300.57% and +8888.88% and does not say what they represent. It also counts more than a million traders using Cryptohopper. Neither is independently verified. Marketplace strategies are sold by third parties, and their backtests can be fitted to the past, so paper trade any purchase before going live.
- Unexplained return percentages in screenshots
- Marketplace backtests from sellers, not audited records
- DCA presented as a way to rescue a losing trade
Who Cryptohopper suits
Cryptohopper suits crypto traders who want a hosted bot they can backtest and paper trade before risking money, and US users who need it to work with Coinbase, Kraken or Binance.US. It suits less well anyone who wants a free plan, or who only needs a simple grid bot, which Pionex offers at no subscription cost.
Our verdict
Cryptohopper is a credible, long-running bot from an identifiable European company, with clear pricing and a refund right. Its 2022 breach did not include API keys by its own account. We would score it higher without the unexplained return figures in its marketing and with a free tier. Use the paper trading account first, and skip the AI tier until a cheaper plan has proved your strategy.
