What are gold signals?

A gold signal is a trade idea on XAU/USD, the price of one troy ounce of gold in US dollars: buy or sell, an entry price, a stop loss and one or more take-profit levels. Most gold signal services post on Telegram, where an alert reaches your phone within seconds.

Good services also post the analysis behind the calls: the day's key levels, the session plan and the data releases that could move the price.

Why gold needs a different kind of signal

Gold regularly moves $20 to $50 in a day, and far more around US inflation figures, payrolls and Federal Reserve decisions. A signal that would be sensible on EUR/USD can be stopped out in minutes on gold, so the stop loss and the timing matter more.

Pips are also measured differently. Many brokers count one pip on gold as $0.10, some as $0.01 and some as $1, so a “100 pip” result can mean very different moves. Judge a service by the price levels it gives, not its pip totals.

  • One standard lot is usually 100 ounces, so a $1 move is worth $100
  • The London and New York overlap is the most active window
  • Spreads widen sharply in the minutes around US data

How to choose a gold signal provider

Look at a week of free posts first. You want specific levels, a stop loss on every trade and follow-up when the trade moves: when to take partial profit, when to move the stop to entry.

Red flags in gold signal groups

Gold attracts the most aggressive marketing of any market. Walk away if you see:

  • Guaranteed weekly pip totals or “no losing weeks”
  • Requests to send money to an “account manager” who trades for you
  • Pressure to open an account with one unregulated broker
  • Deleted signals after the price goes the wrong way

How we rank gold signal providers

Every provider is scored on the same weighted areas, using what it publishes on its own site and channels. Facts are dated when we check them.

Frequently asked questions

Are gold signals worth it?

They can be if the service gives complete signals with a stop loss, posts every result and suits the hours you can trade. Test any service on a demo account for a few weeks before paying.

What is the best time to trade gold?

Gold is most active when the London and New York sessions overlap, roughly 13:00 to 17:00 UK time, and around major US data releases.

How much money do I need to follow gold signals?

Because gold moves so far, small accounts need micro lots (0.01) to keep risk near 1% a trade. With a 0.01 lot, a $10 move against you costs about $10.

What does XAU/USD mean?

XAU is the code for one troy ounce of gold, and USD is the US dollar. XAU/USD is the price of an ounce of gold in dollars.

Why do gold signals use several take-profit levels?

Gold often reverses sharply. Closing part of the position at TP1 and moving the stop to entry locks in some profit while leaving room for a bigger move.
